The Lost “El Patrón” is Matt Biolos’ personal surfboard. It’s easy to scale up any model to bigger dimensions, but it’s something else for it to remain agile, responsive and forgiving. This board does exactly that. Like many of us, Matt Biolos felt relegated to surfing hybrids or bulky, wide boards. Age, life’s circumstances, lack of technique and fitness inspired Matt Biolos to create this pro-formance shortboard design. With El Patrón, you’ll be able to enjoy riding a shortboard again.
El Patrón is mainly based on a higher-volume surfboard (wider / thicker) built for Kolohe Andino, where he demanded that it turn like a thinner and narrower board. With a very conservative rocker, low entry and more pronounced tail, and a single concave, it allows effortless surfing. Less concave, more volume: that’s the “magic” of El Patrón.
