The Firewire Taylor Jensen Twinzer surfboard is the result of a collaboration between shaper Stu Kenson and three-time world champion Taylor Jensen. It’s a reinterpretation of the iconic design from the San Diego shaper: an evolution of the Thruster, enhanced for smoother transitions and better turning in all types of conditions.
Stu Kenson explains how the Twinzer concept was born:
"I started making Twinzers after watching Martin Potter ride one in 1989 at Lower Trestles. At the time, twin fins were known for more speed and maneuverability than single fins, and they laid the foundation for Simon Anderson’s Thruster. That day I realized the Twinzer setup could be a true innovation on the Thruster."
Over a decade ago, Stu revisited the design to make improvements: updated fin placement, refinements in the board's overall shape, and a continuous R&D process that brought this setup to fishes, midlengths, high-performance longboards, and even step-ups for big waves.
One of the key features of the Twinzer is its versatility: it performs extremely well in all conditions, from small messy surf to powerful overhead waves, and it works equally well on the backhand and forehand.
The Taylor Jensen Twinzer is built for surf between 2 to 7 feet, offering the perfect blend of speed, control, and fun. It’s a board born from the pursuit of performance in a Thruster, but with a smoother, more refined feeling underfoot.
For optimal performance, pair it with the all-new Firewire Kenson Twinzer Fin Set.
Epoxy HE Construction (Helium Tecnology):
The Helium construction of Firewire is made with an ultralight EPS core of only 0,8lb in density, plus a parabolic rail made from balsa and paulownia wood. The Epoxy sandwich offer a great durability and weight.
