Styrene monomer makes polyester resin more fluid, which helps to soak fiberglass with resin and makes boards lighter.
Polyester resin contains a high percentage of styrene although you can add up to 5% of styrene monomer. It's very useful, especially in winter when resin becomes thicker.
Styrene monomer is kept in a glass recipient for better preservation.
