The Channel Island The Ripper is a high-performance board designed to tear apart small to medium waves with style and aggression. Derived from the popular Rad Ripper, this board takes the features of its predecessor to a new level, stripping away the 80s nostalgia to offer a modern, performance-focused design. Inspired by Kalohe Andino, who requested specific tweaks to update the Rad Ripper, The Ripper has been tuned to deliver a more contemporary feel without losing the characteristics that made the original so fun.
To create this new design, the classic beak nose was removed and the deck was completely reconfigured, abandoning the flat deck and boxy rails in favor of a more moderate curve and softer rails. The tail has been thinned out while keeping a square block that provides more control in the critical sections of the wave. A slightly increased nose rocker was also added to better handle quick, tight transitions, while the nose area was reduced to give it a more streamlined look.
The Ripper retains the low rocker of the Rad Ripper, with a single concave in the center and a deep double concave/vee running through the fins all the way to the tail, delivering speed and control in every maneuver. This surfboard is designed to be surfed aggressively off the back foot, responding strongly to rear-foot pressure—ideal for carves, snaps, and powerful turns. However, more relaxed surfers will also appreciate its speed and ease of direction changes thanks to the double concave/vee.
The rounded deck, lower and softer rails, increased nose rocker and reduced nose area, together with a more harmonious tail outline, all work together to modernize and enhance The Ripper. This surfboard is built to be a true high‑performance machine in small waves, perfect both for average surfers and for pros looking for a top-performance tool.
Recommended at a similar size to the original Rad Ripper, but with slightly less volume for a more playful feel. Or, if you prefer a more relaxed style of surfing, you can also choose a slightly longer size.
