The Dominator Pro is the high-performance evolution of the popular Dominator 2.0, designed by Dan Mann for surfers who have long been asking for a more refined and responsive version of their favorite board.
Ideal for surfers who have progressed their skill level and are looking for a more reactive shortboard, or for those seeking a more performance-driven board for surf trips or epic home sessions, the Dominator Pro is made to compete with your favorite high-performance shortboard.
It maintains the original Dominator-style rocker, but with a moderate curve increase from nose to tail. The bottom contour’s concave is almost identical to the 2.0’s, with a bit more single concave under the front foot, flowing into a double barrel concave through the fins, and finishing with a vee off the tail tip, giving the board drive and agility.
The Dominator Pro performs in a wide range of conditions — from thigh-high waves up to overhead and hollow surf— but truly comes alive in chest-high waves and up, where it stays tight in the pocket and thrives in punchy, curvy sections.
For best results, pair it with Firewire Velox fins — many riders prefer it as a Thruster, while Dan surfs it as a Quad.
With a more pulled-in outline, refined volume, and less forgiveness than the 2.0, this board is aimed at good to excellent surfers who want to push their performance or prefer something more forgiving than a pure performance shape. It still features classic touches like the subtle hip in the tail and the round squash tail for smooth transitions and precise turns.
Epoxy HE Construction (Helium Tecnology):
The Helium construction of Firewire is made with an ultralight EPS core of only 0,8lb in density, plus a parabolic rail made from balsa and paulownia wood. The Epoxy sandwich offer a great durability and weight.
