The Lost RAD RIPPER surfboard is the latest in the "Post Modern Retro" collection. A variant of the Retro Ripper, but scaled for small waves.
Starting from the Retro Ripper, Matt Biolos lowered the entry rocker a bit (for fast paddling, early entry, easy glide and quick acceleration), and replaced the round tail that controls speed with a wide, flat squash tail. The board generates a lot of lift, with plenty of surface area for small waves. Having grown up in the 80s, Matt was always in love with how easy the high-performance shortboards of that era were to surf. The RAD RIPPER has good tail rocker, with an aggressive double concave on the bottom.
It’s a fun, super fast, forgiving and easy-to-ride board with modern updates and improvements, suitable for almost anyone.
Main features include:
• Flat, stable deck with soft rails.
• Slight vee in the nose (to free up the rocker) that turns into a shallow single concave, finishing in a double-concave vee, both to generate speed and to provide control.
• Wide, stable squash tail that skims over anything and maintains speed through turns, even in small summer waves.
• Good thickness carried forward, with a wedge “beak” nose for maneuverability.
Epoxy Light Speed construction:
LightSpeed is a surfboard construction patented by LOST that uses lightweight EPS foam and high-strength epoxy resin. It combines Rapid-Reflex carbon fiber and vibration-damping Innegra fibers with a fine fiberglass cloth.
The reinforced tail patches transfer energy to the rails more efficiently. It also features carbon-aligned “Exo-Stringers” that allow natural torsion and a faster response. The combination of Innegra fiberglass and other fabrics increases both strength and lightness.
LOST boards are manufactured in the Basque Country by the Olatu factory, owner of the Pukas brand, which also builds for the prestigious Al Merrick Channel Islands label.
